For some reason, scary things tend to comfort me. I can only explain it, as I was a child I would read those Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark books (which, looking back on it, were terrible). I found when I would read them before bed I would be so frightened I wouldn’t move, and then fall asleep. It became a thing where I’d scare the shit out of myself, then head to bed, sure I wouldn’t toss and turn myself to dreamless sleep. I probably damaged my psyche that way, but if anything, it’s given me character. Right?
